When we’re younger we want everyone to like us. It’s an unspoken feeling that we crave acceptance from each of our peers, despite the fact we might not even get along. Then we get older and realize we don’t like any of the people we wanted acceptance from. It’s a funny change of scenery and a breath of fresh air.
It’s almost like as we get older we become more empowered because we let the childish fears go. We pick and choose who we surround ourselves with. We say whatever we want, despite the fact it might offend certain people. We realize who helps us grow and who brings us down.
This weekend was a beautiful reminder that I wouldn’t be who I am today without the support of the friends I’ve chosen. I’m a social butterfly and it’s taken me awhile to realize choosing who I spend my time with defines who I am. These people make me want to be a better human being, and every time I’m with each of them I grow in such a positive way. My advice to you: choose the friends who want to see you thrive and be happy. Dump those b’s who steal your beautiful energy.
This outfit is my let’s play outfit. This simple denim button-down dress and $14 shoes give me the freedom to romp around town with my hood rat friends and still look cute. You know you love it.
