In a day and age where social media is the top form of communication, pictures and statuses are now how we judge and categorize others. We take all of the perfect, happy moments and put them out there, almost like branding ourselves. Judgement is bound to happen and we all think everyone lives this perfectly content and normal life. I think I’m one of many who are guilty of forgetting how superficial social media is, and how none of our lives are even close to what we post.
In fact, how well do we actually know our friends, family, boyfriend, girlfriend..? We all put on a certain face for everyone, hide parts of who we really are to certain individuals, sometimes to everyone. Where and when does it stop? When it comes down to it, we all have layers (“[(humans] are like onions, donkey”)- some layers are superficial, some are deeper and closer to the person we really are. There is no way to know what layers and parts of others are real, fake or just a small insight into themselves.
As for getting to know every layer of myself, only a few have that privilege. But my goal is to put every flaw and everything real about me out there. I hope I can inspire you to all to do the same.
